A year long investigation into the felony murder law and how it can be weaponized by the justice system.

LaKeith Smith is in prison for murder because a cop killed his friend. In 2015, at the age of 15, Smith and three other Black boys were stealing things from an empty house in Alabama when the police showed up. As Smith ran away, the police fatally shot his friend, A’Donte Washington. Then, they charged Smith with felony murder. He is now serving a 55-year sentence. But now, there is a campaign to bring him home.
